Negotiation Success Secures Client’s Intellectual Property Rights for Future Profitability
Scenario:
Our client was presented with a deal that was a great fit for the client’s thought leadership work. Unfortunately, the contract initially required our client to perform services, as a work-for-hire. This meant the other company would outright own all intellectual property associated with the project. As a result of our skilled negotiation tactics, we were able to finalize the deal terms with new intellectual property language that benefited our client.
Impact:
Our client would not be limited in their ability to profit from their intellectual property. They could continue to commercialize it in the future with other opportunities while still entering this deal.
